april feature: the dorty heir.

nadir/ thedortyheir.blogspot.comnadir/ thedortyheir.blogspot.com

the dorty heir is a great blog: very inspiring, very spontaneously done, and very personalized in a way that is kind of, well, mystical. so, i arranged this simple interview with him, to get a better glance on the creative 17-year-old soul that fuels the life of the blog. enjoy!

what's your name and your age?

My name is Nadir, and I'm 17 years old.

what's your hobby and which one do you think is the best?

I have a lot of hobbies, I love spending quality time with myself (not that I am self-centered,well maybe a bit,but aren't we all?),i enjoy reading and I do yoga whenever I get the chance. Art has a huge importance in my life,I 'm curious about fashion and music. But my best hobby is by far photography,I love the powerful feeling it gives me over time.

who's your favorite designer/ artist and why?

For designers, i like pretty much everything Gaspard Yurkievich does, and I'm fond of of the new Lanvin man's collection by Lucas Ossendrijver .I also quite like what Hedi Slimane does, his visual work really amazes me.And in another context I love Claude Monet's paintings,i love how there's always something new to discover when you look at them.

how do they influence you in the way you run your blog?

I like the layout of Hedi's visual diary, you know , neutral background to really make visitors focus on the content. That's what I use, because I think it has more effect on people's eyes.

where do you search for inspirations?

I love looking at old pictures from my grandma's albums or my parents'.I like seeing old movies, mostly by Godard or Scorsese.I also like to look at some editorials, or some magazines that have nice photography like Grey Magazine or Acne Paper.

how do you define the sentence "perfect work of art"?

I think that a perfect work of art is something that goes beyond reality, something that can take you through time and space, something tangible but unreachable at the same time, something that reminds how much of a genius a Human being can be.

what's your definition of happiness?

Happiness to me is the synonym of great accomplishments, but it also can be as simple as a cup of tea in front of a window when it rains,or a warm kiss from your beloved,a book that takes you to the most hidden areas of your soul,or of course a delicious couscous :)

...and while we're still at it, cool people, what's your definition of happiness? :)

the september issue: review.

"there's something about fashion than can make people very nervous."

anna wintour

the september issue

here's a very late review from a movie i've just watched two days ago, the september issue; a 2009 indie movie directed by r.j.cutler about the famed anna wintour and the making of vogue.

on a short note, september issues are considered very important, and they tend to make september issues big ones because, according to vogue's executive fashion director candy pratts price, september is the january of fashion.

this movie revolves around the making of the issue, featuring cover star sienna miller (shot by mario testino), and the selection processes done by anna wintour. frankly said, this movie covered her impeccable charm (almost) completely, and how strict she was in the making of this issue.

the most important part was to see the discussions and clashes happened between anna and her crews, one of them is the super-talented creative director grace coddington, whom anna herself called as a "genius", and how her favorite sets of pictures did not get anna's approvals, instead of her actually least favorite ones.

there were also appearances by designers such as stefano pilati (ysl's head designer) and thakoon panichgul. it was kind of surprising for me to notice that anna probably likes seeing colors in clothes, reflected in her appreciation for thakoon, and does not hype too many black or muted colors, as in pilati's designs for ysl fall 2009.

to wrap things up, i really recommend all of you fashion lovers to watch it. the fashion world could be easier and tougher than we think! ;) oh and, this movie also revealed the extreme retouching for the cover, where sienna's head got pasted into another body.

cool people..., sorry for the recent hiatus. it feels like time fleets super rapidly for me nowadays, and i got too many things going on lately to write down here. sorry for the ignorance of this blog, but i really thank God that all of you are always so understanding :)

some of rick owens eye candies+ his homme SS2010 preview.

rick owens

more MIA days. so sorry for the absence, i've been attending the comprehensive teacher's training for pilates these 2 days. tiring yet exciting, i must say.

anyway, here are some of rick owens, including his newest collections for guys this 2010.

rick owens homme ss2010 collectionrick owens collection

i can almost make an ode to him. he's the guru of modern-goth designs. whenever i see his designs, i imagine him as the king of the world of black-and-white-and-charcoal-gray. perhaps that'd be way too amazing if i can finagle my way to it, to live there, where no colors in clothes as the centers of the limelight.

then here's a caroline blomst for you. i wish i'd be her for 5 minutes only, just to feel how it's like to walk down the streets in this stunning jacket.

below are two more boots to die for. seriously. like, who will hate those?

denim + leather.

leather and denim. vinda sonata

looked straight into your eyes and got lost there. drenched myself deeply in your presence. sinked myself in your imaginary embraces; fantasies are never sins nor mistaken. one of those days it feels like i wake up with thoughts of you every new morning, with a noticeable aroma from a glass of left-off green tea i forgot to drink last night.

leather and denim. vinda sonataleather and denim. vinda sonata

looked straight into your eyes and i told you how much i've missed you over some silly, meaningless short talks full of incomprehensible prejudices which i always find hard to conquer. you told me things are gonna be okay, and that you had never changed a thing in you. i hate dramas but i always find myself succumb in them, even had turned into absolute guilty pleasures sometimes. i hate showing weaknesses but i showed you my tears.

this is practically a love letter for you, long-distance lover. you know, you always worth the wait; and in my ever-lonely universe, the lonely clock is still ticking for you.

hi cool people, sorry for being MIA these 4 days; been dealing with quite a lot of things lately. so, what else i've been missing here? tell me more about how you guys have been doing lately. i'm always interested in your stories! :)

on the side note, thanks to lovely joei of definitely, maybe for another lovely "sweet blog" award. that surely means a lot to me!

off to watch clash of the titans. the movie surely deserves all the hypes! i love every single artistic aspects of it. very recommended! on a side note, i was kinda glad that perseus didn't end up with princess andromeda instead of io. stories about main hero being loved then loves a princess back is way beyond cliché, i prefer not to see such things anymore in movies ;)

...also both dev and i agree that sam worthington is definitely sick...

hot.

we ♥ MOD styles.

(altamira, stockholm streetstyle, stil in berlin)

fashionistas love MOD styles, designers are no different. it is even said that alexander wang is constantly inspired by the simplicity and stylishness of them.

here's certainly the secret why they always look gorgeous:

"I'm not suggesting that they look provocatively, you know wearing sexy stuff but certainly stuff that shows the length of their body and that they're slim"

- sarah doukas, founder and owner of storm models management, in an interview with altamira, february 2010.

how was your weekends, cool people? i had a fun one. :)

we're away physically, but we're one in spirit, and we're both still located under the same sky. (edited)

in lazy moods, i love putting on simple, easy-to-wear clothes, paired with my favorite jacket, shoes, and bag.

anyway, sorry for being quite a horrible blogger lately -.- i'll be back soon to the usual blogging craze once the maya project is finished, which means next thursday. i will now dance and scream out "yay"s! ;)

been consumed by so many great easy-listening songs, such as with you by monkey majik and work it out by misia. i love listening to music when doing my things, they evoke certain moods and magically broaden imagination!

how do you guys evoke moods when doing things? :)
